Read Me First: The Letter
Hello Friend,
I didn't expect to write book 2 at all. In fact, I fought the idea when it first came through. Not long after my dad passed away, I woke up one morning with this letter in my head. It was from Geminii to you, the reader. I quickly wrote it all down and when I reread it, I thought there was no way I was going to write this. No thank you. No.
But after a short time, I realized I needed to say yes. This is a story that would not have come to me if my dad hadn’t passed away. It’s a story about loss and my own journey through it, in the world from book 1, Along the River of Zurisees. Your favorite characters are back for their next adventure! But there is a huge twist, and it begins with this letter. I’m still deep in the writing phase, so I have a long way to go. I’m inviting you along for the journey if you’re interested.
Below is the letter that started it all. If you’ve read Along the River of Zurisees, you’re in for a shock! If you haven’t, you can also begin your journey here.
SPOILER ALERT!!! Lots of spoilers ahead in this blog!
The Letter
Dear Reader,
This is Gem.
Before you dive in, I wanted to share a few things.
First, thank you for being here. Second, it’s true my voice has aged a bit. It’s taken many turnings to summon the courage to share.
Thirdly, I need to be honest with you about what happened all those years ago (though for you, a few pages). Please forgive my lateness. You see, I chose to recreate the ending you know. I chose to rewrite what happened and live in a happy one for a time. I apologize for the delay, not for what I did.
As to what truly happened when my world tore apart, a new chapter began. One in which I found myself lost. And yet, it was the beginning of the greatest adventure life has taken me.
You may recall (and if not, I beg you to return and leave this for another day), the moment Bennu was destroyed, and the world split in two. The moment I flew back to the Valley of Elyippse on the wings of the Nadru, Felsic. And the desperate moment you and I waited for.
Well… that moment never came. And the one that did is the one I couldn’t bear, nor could I share till now. And I share it from the onset, as the following adventure took me far beyond it.
Death is nowhere near the end. If it were, this would be a small tale, indeed. Rather, this is a story beyond the veil, that miserable curtain loss makes so apparent. If you are familiar, this story is for you, and for our desperate need to break through the thinnest and mightiest of barriers.
Lastly, Pips says hello and sends her love. If you choose to venture further, I’ll show you how.
Best Wishes,
Geminii
